Logistics on training day

For in-person training, please arrive at your training venue at least 15 minutes prior to the start time in order to locate the training room and sign-in prior to commencement.

For in-person training with Rowan Bunning, training hours are 9am to 5pm with breaks for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. If you are making travel arrangements, please leave sufficient time either side of these hours. Would would advise to not book a taxi any earlier than 5:10pm.

If you have a trainer other than Rowan, please take note of the training start and end times in email correspondence sent shortly before course commencement.

The only thing to bring is a curious mind ready for learning. You will not need a laptop and we will expect that mobile devices be switched off except during the designated breaks.

Feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in, keeping in mind that some exercises will involve some low-level physical activity. Also note that the temperature in the room may fluctuate and it may be handy to have an extra layer.

Yes, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided. Tea and coffee is available on arrival.

Certification Process for Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM)

A Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is someone who has been taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer® (CST) the Scrum terminology, practices, and principles that will enable them to fulfil the role of ScrumMaster or team member in a Scrum environment. Further, their knowledge has been demonstrated by passing a CSM test administered by the world’s largest Agile accreditation body: Scrum Alliance. A Certified ScrumMaster course is a first step on the path to growing more agile. Experience and continuing education are necessary for someone to truly master Scrum.

The Certified ScrumMaster® certification is provided by Scrum Alliance Inc. Please see the Scrum Alliance website for more information.

The accreditation body, Scrum Alliance require a minimum of 16 contact hourse (including breaks). Our expectation is that participants attend the full two days of course to satisfy the certification requirement, to maximise the benefit to you, and to minimise disruption to other course participant with whom the participant may be interacting. If there is a likelihood that the participant will not be able to attend the full two days from 9am to 5pm, we ask that you let us know as early as possible. If feasible, we will work with the participant to fill in what you miss however this is not always possible. As a rule of thumb, if the participant misses less than 60 mins of core course time then we may be able to cover the missed material during the two days outside of session time. If the participant misses more than 60 minutes we may not be able to put the participant forward as a candidate for certification. In such circumstances, we may be able to offer a seat on the next public course to make-up the portion of the course missed.
Course participants who are eligible for certification will receive an email directly from the Scrum Alliance soon after completing the course. A two year membership with Scrum Alliance is included with the course fee. Please check your junk mail folders if the email is not received or contact us directly. The introductory email will provide access via a log-in and password to the Scrum Alliance website and access to commence the certification test. Students complete the online test in their own time. For more information on the process to becoming a Certified ScrumMaster, see the Scrum Alliance CSM page.

The test can be taken in your own time and done online within 90 days after you receive your Scrum Alliance login information. The Certified ScrumMaster test contains 35 multiple choice questions.

Rowan Bunning is our principal Certified Scrum Trainer® at Scrum WithStyle and will be leading the training unless otherwise advised. Rowan has been delivering Certified ScrumMaster training since 2008 making him one of the most experienced Scrum trainers in the Australasian region. He has been practising and coaching organisations in the use of Scrum since 2003. You can find out more about Rowan on our About Us page.

For more information on the process to becoming a Certified Scrum Product Owner, see the Scrum Alliance CSPO page.
